Master J. Carbo, 5th Dan

Master Joseph Carbo started his Tang Soo Do journey is 2004 at the age of 3.5 years old. During Master Carbo’s journey as a colored belt he regularly competed from white belt. Master Carbo won several gold medals as a colored belt in forms, breaking, and sparring. Master Carbo earned his 1st Dan Blackbelt in 2009. During the 2009 period Master Carbo was presented the World Championship Breaking Award in Boston, Massachusetts by Grandmaster Richard Byrnes. This award was granted for competing in a year round point accumulating international circuit of tournaments. Master Carbo won the award with 13 whole points separating himself from the 2nd place competition. In 2012, Master Carbo at the age of 12 won his first Grand Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by completing the task of beating all of the competitors under the age of 18 years old in forms. Later in the 2012 competition year Master Carbo doubled up and won Grand Champion forms & weapons in West Haven, Connecticut at Grandmaster Charles Ferraro Connecticut State Championship. During The rest of Master Carbo’s blackbelt career he won several 1st place awards in Weapons, Forms, Breaking, and Sparring including in 2014 winning 4 World Champion Trophies (One for each event) at Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe’s Intercontinental Championship in Highland, New Jersey. In June of 2018 Master Carbo was awarded the rank of 4th Dan Master Blackbelt by Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe at the headquarters school in Voorhees, New Jersey. During that time Master Carbo won the Grand Champion Masters Breaking at Grandmaster Marco Discipio’s tournament in Boston, Massachusetts. Also in 2018 Master Carbo & Ms. Tammi Meek won Grand Champion Extreme Breaking at Master Cathy Fairbanks’ tournament breaking over 20 concrete slabs accumulatively. In 2022, Master Carbo won Grand Champion Forms at Grandmaster Marco Discipio’s tournament in Boston, Massachusetts beating over 20 other Masters. At Master Cathy Fairbanks’ tournament in June of 2022 Master Carbo won Grand Champion forms and breaking. The form Master Carbo performed (Chilsung Chil Ro Hyung) is a very rare form which is limited to roughly 100 practitioners of the Art. Closing out the 2022 competition year, Master Carbo was invited by Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe to compete internationally in Guilanova, Italy. Entering the 2023 competition year, Master Carbo won Grand Champion breaking and Grand Champion forms at Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe’s Intercontinental Championships in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Master Carbo performed Hwa Sun which is a form limited to roughly 25 Tang Soo Do practitioners. On June 10th, 2023 Master Carbo earned the rank of 5th Dan Master Blackbelt from Grandmaster Dominick Giacobbe in Voorhees, New Jersey. In August 2023, Master Carbo was invited to compete in a charity competition in which 100% of the proceeds supported children with autism. Master Carbo competed Hwa Sun again and secured Grand Champion forms in the only event he competed in.
